OUR LEGACY…

The Clarion Hotel & Suites Selby is acclaimed for its classical architecture, high ceilings, spacious rooms, breathtaking décor and eclectic past.  But above all one thing stands out…

The Hemingway Room

Throughout the years many prominent characters have graced our doors. But none so illustrious as the world-renowned novelist and Pulitzer prize winner, Ernest Hemingway. In the 1920’s, Ernest and his wife Hadley stayed at The Clarion while he worked as a foreign correspondent for the legendary Toronto newspaper, The Toronto Star.

Rumor had it that between writing for The Toronto Star he was also working on his first great novel, A Farewell to Arms.

Now, are we claiming that staying in this room will bring out your muse and you’ll write the greatest novel of our times?

No.

But relaxing in our soothing, luxuriant baths, slipping into our heavenly king sized beds and waking up refreshed and alive is inspiration in itself!  Sit and write your creative masterpiece at one of the tables Hemingway actually wrote on, and maybe that winning proposal will land you that new account or the coveted promotion you’ve been waiting for.   Or opt for relaxation after a long journey .... let your spirit soar, your creativity spring forth and explore everything Toronto has to offer!

Hemingway transformed lives with his writing … transform yours with a visit to The Clarion.

(P.S. If you DO get some creative inspiration, don’t blame US!)
